HRD Solutions utilizes multiple assessment tools in our practice, depending upon the client need and solution. Our professional credentials and certifications allow us to use most commercially available instruments. Below are descriptions of some of the tools we use.

Custom 360° Feedback Tools and Employee Surveys

HRD Solutions creates customized on-line surveys that allow organizations to collect feedback and information from their employees. Through our partnership with Valtera, HRD Solutions utilizes SurveySage to create on-line customized 360° feedback tools and survey products. SurveySage offers a simple, flexible and integrated system for collecting and reporting survey data over the Internet. Through the Internet, SurveySage can administer surveys, collect data and distribute results. Typical uses are: Multi-rater Feedback, Employee Opinion Surveys, Culture and Value Surveys.

ASSESS and ASSESS360

HRD Solutions uses a comprehensive assessment development process from Bigby, Havis and Associates (www.bigby.com) to create personality and 360° assessments that use your company's competency as the basis of assessment. Through a process called Strategic Success Modeling, competency models can be efficiently developed and applied to the assessment tools. The personality assessment comes in development and selection formats. The selection format includes a behavioral interview protocol with special probes derived from the results of the personality assessment. An appropriate cognitive abilities measure can also be easily integrated into the personality assessment. ASSESS360 is also created as part of the Strategic Success Modeling process. It includes a time-saving option that allows respondents to complete multiple assessments in one on-line session.

Project Example:

HRD Solutions was brought in to help a major division of a large consulting company develop its leaders and high potential succession candidates. Through a review of relevant documentation and a one-day Strategic Success Modeling workshop with the leadership team, a competency model was developed and assessments were customized to the model. The customized assessments were combined with other assessment tools to create a comprehensive, executive developmental process. Assessment results were also used to guide coaching, leadership team development, and succession planning. Finally, the selection assessment was used as a voice in selecting external candidate for leadership in this division.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

HRD Solutions uses this assessment from CPP (www.cpp.com) for individual and group development programs. We also customize feedback sessions for in-tact teams or training class.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an extremely useful and practical tool for achieving an understanding of the differences that we encounter in our daily interactions with others. The MBTI provides an indication of how you prefer to perceive things, people, ideas, and situations, and how you prefer to come to conclusions about what has been perceived. The understanding and appreciation of the differences in the way people prefer to function can greatly enhance the effectiveness of how people work together - whether in supervisor/subordinate, peer or personal relationship. The MBTI provides a useful context for increasing personal and managerial effectiveness in such areas as communications, problem solving, conflict management, assignment of work, training, coaching, performance appraisal and increasing team effectiveness. It is also a valuable assessment tool in a career planning process.

Project Example:

HRD Solutions was asked to consult with an intact team of 15 people to assist the Vice President with increasing the effectiveness of the team. The MBTI was used in an offsite to give the team members a common vocabulary to discuss their different styles and how that impacted their work relationships.

Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI)

HRD Solutions uses this assessment from CPP (www.cpp.com) for individual and group development programs. We also customize feedback sessions for in-tact teams or training class.

The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) is used for understanding how different conflict-handling styles affect personal and group dynamics and for learning how to select the most appropriate style for a given situation. The Thomas Kilmann Conflict Instrument (TKI) provides an insightful look at how the participant behaves in a conflict situation. The self-report assessment measures participant's responses on Cooperativeness and Assertiveness. The report provides a Primary Style as well as the scoring on the other four styles. Possible dominant styles include Competing, Avoiding, Compromising, Collaborating, and Accommodating.
